Flights from Canada to Managua
For Canadians flying to Nicaragua, the main arrival airport is Managua (MGA). Right now there is a true nonstop option in peak winter season: WestJet operates a weekly nonstop flight from Montréal (YUL) to Managua (MGA) starting December 18, 2025 through early April 2026 (WestJet lists April 2, 2026). If you’re not departing from Montréal (or traveling outside that seasonal window), most itineraries from Canada will require one or two stops, commonly through U.S. hubs (like Miami or Houston) or regional hubs, so expect a longer travel day and choose connection times conservatively.
(connection + documents Canadians should check before booking):
If your itinerary connects through the United States, plan for extra time: on many international-to-connection itineraries you’ll clear border processing and (in many cases) claim and recheck checked bags before continuing, unless you’re covered by special programs/airports. Some Canadian airports offer U.S. Preclearance, which can make U.S. connections easier because you complete U.S. inspection before you depart Canada. Also check travel document basics before you buy tickets: Canada’s official travel guidance for Nicaragua states your passport should be valid at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date from Nicaragua, and you should review the latest Travel.gc.ca advisory/entry details because requirements can change.
